What was that??

The structure of their class room was in such a way that the boys and girls were sitting opposite to each other, with the teacher in the middle. He was sitting in the left end side of the second row bench and she was sitting in the right side of the first row. The peculiarity of their new teacher was that, whenever he starts reading the book, he will take eyes only after finishing it. Our hero found time to look at our heroine during all these time. And at the moment the teacher finishes reading, she also used to take her eyes from the book and look straight as usual, making a clear eye contact with him. But she couldn’t sustain it. She usually changes her gaze away from him. But he never not stopped staring at her at any point of time because he loved the feeling when their eyes meet. Even during the prayer section which used to happen at the end of each class, he couldn’t stop looking at her. Hence she came to know that he is continuously watching her. But for why, this question was unanswered for her..

Years passed by and they were near to the end of tenth year. Their summer classes were about to start and he thought of start talking to her during the classes. And on the first day of their summer classes, while walking to the Sunday school, he talked to her, for the first time. She considered it as a friendly talk, and treated it like that. But for him, it was like talking to God, one of his dreams had fulfilled!! He felt happy, happy, happy and happy. He didn’t have words to express his happiness. He was wondering that why was he feeling so much happy when he talked to her? And on the remaining days of their summer classes, he spoke to her daily.

From then, he used to talk to her almost on every Sunday. While waking up in the morning of a Sunday, his mind would be filled with her thoughts and was eager to see & talk to her. Gradually his purpose of going to Church has changed a little bit, to see her, to talk to her, and (finally!!), attending the Holy Mass. If he could not talk to her during their classes, he used to call her on phone. And most of the times, his calls used to be attended by her Mom or Dad. This made them doubtful about him (as usual). But for her, he was just a friend, not even a special one. Otherwise, only a classmate. That’s all..But she knew that

Something was going on in his mind…

Two more years passed by and then he thought that it’s the right time to tell her about his love. Otherwise she might flew away from his life forever after her higher secondary school without even knowing his love for her, he feared. And the day came… He wanted to tell her directly, but he couldn’t make it. His mind was filled with tension and he was definitely upset!! His heart was beating like never before. But he managed somehow and finally dialed her number..

Trringg Trringg… Fortunately she picked up the call. After their usual talks, he told her that he has something very important to say her.. She, as she usually does, asked him “what’s the matter, friend?” With tons of loads upon his heart, he told her that he like her very much, he would die if he doesn’t tell it to her and needed her reply. These 2-3 sentences came from his mouth within seconds!! But her reaction made him very disappointed.. “Oh.. Is that it? I thought it would be something else.” Hearing this, he became like a blasted balloon.. But, he managed to tell her that he needs her reply by next Sunday & hung up the phone. He couldn’t stand upon his feet because of his high-rated heart beats. He lied on the bed and it took some time, around 10-15 minutes, for him to become normal.

The next Sunday was their Annual day celebration. He was eagerly waiting for her reply. Even though he knew her reply would be a “NO”, somewhere in the corner of his heart was wishing it could be a “YES”. Annual day celebrations came to an end, everyone was leaving the auditorium. He was waiting for her beside the door, while preparing his mind to hear a “no” from her. He was instructing his heart that not to cry even if she says a “no”. Finally she came towards the door and on seeing him she had a gorgeous smile which he had never, ever seen on her face!!! That was really mind-blowing. But, he couldn’t read between her smile. And she passed by him without even looking at him. He ran after her and asked “At least tell me your answer, dear” And her reply was a wise one, he believes.

She replied, “This is not the right time for all these and you may choose one way & I’ll choose another in our life. Both ways are different and this is not going to be practical. And, even after a pretty long time period, you think that you still have this feeling for me, then come and ask my dad.”

That’s it! She wisely escaped by not directly saying a NO. But, he loved to believe that at least she likes him. Hence he used to speak to her as usual as he does. But she was trying to ignore him, at least during some instances. She thought in a different way – if she purposefully does not talk to him, he’ll think that she’s not at all interested; otherwise he may misinterpret as her love.

Meanwhile, he took a decision to ask for her hands before her parents, when the right time comes. So he tried to talk to her whenever he gets time so that he can get in touch with her and know the status of her life. But things didn’t go as he thought. She had to go outside their state for a good reason..
